The inaugural Newport Independent Film Festival, held in October 2024, marked the beginning of an inspiring journey for independent filmmakers and film enthusiasts alike. The first edition received over 200 submissions from filmmakers across 10 countries. Though humble in scale, the festival showcased a diverse range of genres, including drama, comedy, documentary, and experimental films.

The festival emphasizes local engagement by screening several works by filmmakers from the surrounding area. Outdoor screenings and local food stalls create a welcoming, community-focused atmosphere.
